Abstract: On the surface, Mentor's port of Falcon Framework tools to the NT platform is a godsend. Pushed by management within Mentor's customers as a way to maximize utilization of hardware already in place for office automation and as a way to affordably spread the use of Mentor tools, the idea is a good one. But does it work? Northrop Grumman attempted to introduce Mentor NT into multiple geographic locations using its already mature UNIX-based environment as a starting point. The goal was to share userware and libraries across the entire sector. This paper discusses how Northrop Grumman implemented Mentor NT in both NT only and mixed NT/Unix environments. Successes, problems and workarounds will be highlighted. Biography: Tony Defina works for the Northrop Grumman ESSS where he is a member of the Process and Tool Development Support team. He has worked with Mentor tools since 1983 and is currently the editor of MUGazine.
