Abstract

At Lucent the Design Stock Lists (DSLs) are used by circuit engineers to create an initial part list for a design, by circuit designers to determine which parts to instantiate in the design, by component engineers to ensure that parts used in the design are approved for the project, by purchasing to determine which parts are being used in a design (this is particularly useful for parts with long lead time), and by manufacturing as input to the PDM system. The DSL serves as hand-off from engineering to design and from design to manufacturing. At Lucent Parts SpeciaList is used to manage and view DSLs. With the Parts SpeciaList the designer can instantiate parts into the design and they can synchronize the DSL with the design. The DSL also has ties to GCIM (Lucent's component information system). The DSL contains information that is directly drawn from GCIM and for more complex relationships the DSL can be synchronized with GCIM. Various audits can be run against the DSL to check the statuses of the parts in the DSL. The DSL can be exported to the PDM system (and imported from the PDM system).
