Abstract

Mentor tools have been too difficult to learn quickly. We have powerful tool capabilities but need to enable users to get the benefit of the tools we have. Our own internal process documentation was fragmented and not always at the right level. It was difficult to find the information you were looking for, if it existed at all. The documentation was not process oriented towards the end user. Training materials and classes focused on the rich feature set, rather than the process of designing.

This paper will show how we addressed these shortcomings by providing a single, consistent set of materials, accessible easily to all users and at their level of knowledge. They serve as the basis for classroom courses, self-paced learning, quick reference material, and overall reference material.

Bio

Process engineer/project leader with Hewlett Packard Company. Primary area of support is implementation and application support for EECAD tools in the HP environment. My 30 yr association with EECAD tools and their evolution have provided a worldwide exposure to the challenges of successfully integrating "vanilla" tools into real world environments.
