Synopsys
This presentation will introduce the Design for Reuse Methodology Manual that has been co-authored by both Synopsys and Mentor Graphics. Most ASIC design teams do not code their RTL or design their testbenches with reuse in mind and as a result, most designers find it faster to develop modules from scratch than to reverse engineer someone else's design. The concept of the Reuse Methodology Manual is to define what design practices lead to a re-usable design and how to increase the probability of design reuse without sacrificing features or time to market. This capability will allow designers to quickly move with changes in technology and to readily mix their designs with other IP.
The presentation will give an overview of the document and how it can be used to improve time to market and quality. The presenters will be from both Synopsys and Mentor Graphics.
Bio:
Mike Keating received his BSEE and MSEE from Stanford and has spent

at GenRad, Cred ence Systems, and Zycad. Mike joined Synopsys in 1996
as Director of Engineering in the Design Reuse Group.
Nick Ruddick worked at Burroughs/Unisys for 30 years before joining
Mentor Graphics last year. At Unisys he managed system design team
