Many companies grapple with the problem of identifying the latest version of photo-plotted artwork. It is possible to add a configuration control stamp to any Gerber output file. This data could include the date and time the file was generated, the date the plot files were put on tape, or any another information you wish to include. The data can be plotted onto the film and/or displayed to the operator on the plotter terminal.
There are several ways to automate the process of adding a configuration data to a Gerber output file. This paper contains detailed information on how to add configuration control information to the Gerber output data from within Board Station and from a UNIX script.
