xCalibre Parasitic Extraction for Deep Submicron

Jon Gelsey
Mentor Graphics

xCalibre is a complete flow for DSM Parasitic Extraction. Its role is to model the electrical effects of physical interconnect in preparation for post-layout analysis. Various type s of analysis (timing, power, and noise) require different models, which can only be created by different extractors. xCalibre is the first flow to accommodate multiple extraction engines, provide unlimited scalability and be able to present interconnect models at whichever level of abstraction is required. This presentation will describe the complete flow in detail and how it can be applied to flat, ASIC and fully hierarchical design flows.

Bio:
Jon Gelsey began his career as an IC designer for Convex Computer Corporation, a mini-supercomputer manufacturer. After gaining extensive experience with Convex designing IC's and high-performance digital systems in CMOS, ECL and bipolar GaAs, he moved into the role of computer systems architect for a team developing a massively parallel processor. Jon has extensive experience as a high-speed IC designer and computer architect. Jon is the senior product manager in Mentor's Physical Extraction and Verification business unit.
