A Method for Propagating LMS Catalog Changes to Schematics

LMS manages part-number-specific symbol properties in library catalogs. The properties are used as symbol activation parameters when menus are built, and are attached to schematic instances as parts are instantiated from menus. Changes to library catalog entries must be propagated to existing schematics. The current Mentor Graphics tool set has no efficient method for designers to update their schematics with library catalog changes. This paper presents a method for tracking property changes in LMS-based library catalogs and propagating the changes to existing schematics.
