Because of their Corporate agreement with Mentor Graphics, AlliedSignal examined the best, most efficient way to roll out training at the Aerospace sites. AlliedSignal decided to sponsor and jointly develop customized tool training with Mentor Graphics for digital design, analog design, and top-down design using VHDL. The result has been over a 50 percent reduction in class time and approximately a one million dollar savings in both accrued costs and unrealized costs in the first year.

Jack Harrity is a Staff Engineer for the Electronics Process Support Group of AlliedSignal's Center For Process Improvement, located in Columbia MD. The group provides AlliedSignal business units with support of their electronic design automation tools, processes, and libraries. Jack holds a BS degree in Electrical Engineering and has been working with Mentor Graphics tools since 1989.
